Concerts

The Hereford Concert Band has given many concerts around Herefordshire. The highlight of 2005 was the concert in the Courtyard, Hereford on June 19th with Evelyn Tubb (soprano), Alfred's sister. This concert featured the premiere of Alfred Tubb's Vectis Suite (Pictures from the Isle of Wight). This piece was reviewed by John Hywel in the Winds Magazine of the British Association of Symphonic Bands and Wind Ensembles- Autumn 2005 :-

".......colourful and dramatic three movement Vectis Suite was given a well-prepared and convincing performance......"

".......This is an attractive, evocative and challenging work, in which all sections of the band are given opportunities to demonstrate their skills, as each contrasting movement portrays different aspects of the island's scenic beauties and rich historical past.

This is a substantial piece of some fifteen minutes duration, and a piece that exhibits the expert and highly imaginative scoring and structural planning of an experienced composer...."

Rehearsals

The Hereford Concert Band always welcomes new members. They rehearse on Wednesday evenings from 7.30 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. during term time at the Hereford Sixth Form College, Folly Lane, Hereford. For further information please contact the secretary.
